Too Much Glitter!

Darn - I wanted to make my ice cream look icy and ended up with too much glitter - the colours don't shine through. Let's just say that unfortunately, the ice cream is a bit freezer burned.

Here are the challenges for this card:
Friday Sketchers - Sketch
Splitcoast Free 4 All - "Ice Scream, You Scream we all scream for Ice Cream"
Stamp Something - Something Vintage with Flowers
Daring Cardmakers - Ice and Snow
Colour Dare - Very Vanilla, Old Olive, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral

I have some errands to run and then I have to decide if I'm going to start doing my annual house purging or wait a couple of days. The sooner it's done - the sooner I'm free-er to enjoy the summer.

Thanks for stopping by - I appreciate your visits!!!!

Final Fabulous Friday

Today is the last Fabulous Friday for the Sugar Creek Hollow DT. I sure have learned a lot from the women on the team and have thoroughly enjoyed working with the images Tracy provided.

We were challenged this week to not use Designer Paper. I decided to totally distress one piece of paper and then I spritzed the other with ink. I TOTALLY forgot to use dry embossing - duh!!!!! Oh well, next time!

I love this little bunny and today I gave him some carrots to eat.

I hope you have a fantastic day and please stop by to visit the other members of the team to see their wonderful creations.

Wednesday....

This is such a hard time of year....so much I want to do and just no energy. Still 4 days of school to get through (2 with kids, 2 without) and then I collapse for two weeks sleeping most of the time.....just what I feel like doing right now!

I love it when images that I know I should colour, but am hesitant to, look just as good in black ink. That's how I feel about this flower. I'm sure I wouldn't do it justice in colouring and I like how this turned out. Play Date Cafe wanted black-white-and a splash of colour (blue) this week and I'm still holding fast to Marina Mist! This card also uses the sketch from Splitcoast this week. No embellishments for this one - pretty Clean and Simple.

This second card, using Mercy's sketch, sort of evolved. I used the colour challenge from Splitcoast (Almost Amethyst, Apricot Appeal and Soft Suede) and added a bit of glitter on the tips of the candles for the challenge at Crafty Creations to add shine to the card. I was able to "sort of" match the cupcakes by stamping the pieced "icing" with the fancy heart from "I (heart) hearts" so it matches the tiny cupcakes along the side.

Finally, I reused the sketch from Splitcoast but used the colours from CAS-tastic Wednesday Challenge - blue, yellow and a neutral - I chose Sahara Sand, Night of Navy and Daffodil Delight.

It's early for me - but I think I'm going to have to head to bed so I can start refreshed tomorrow....Thursday. Thanks for stopping by.

The coveted Trees....

Okay - so - if this set ends up retiring after this year I will take full responsibility. I have wanted "Lovely as a Tree" ever since I became a demonstrator - for whatever reason I never purchased it and it got to the point that I was afraid to get it in case it retired. When I saw the retiring list this year and the trees were still "growing", I decided to take the chance and get it.

I've used it with the Mojo Monday Sketch and the Colour Chef challenge to use tone on tone colours.

I went to the surgeon today and the ball has been set in motion for my second total knee replacement. Could be 6-7 months or sooner. At least I know this time to make darn sure I do the pre-operation exercises diligently because I know the difference they will make later.

While I was at the surgeon my husband took over my Grade 4 class for music. I had him working with them with boom whackers - He asked them if they were sure they didn't know how to play trumpet. ( He teaches Jr. High band in the same school). Apparently they had a good time.

Hope you have a great Wednesday - Thanks for stopping by! Joan

Shadow Box & Invites...

I didn't get to any challenges Monday after school - but I did finally finish up the flower project I was working on and got all my invitation for my Open House put together.

I couldn't decide what to put on the Top Note in this 3-D frame - as it is I've just stuck this Tres Chic on temporarily and may replace it with a small Decore Element saying.

I have decided that I'm not going to miss Ballet Blue as much anymore since my new favorite blue is Marina Mist. I'm also glad that Soft Suede is staying a a main colour......so I used them both for my invitations to my open house in July. Now
I just have to address envelopes and get them in the mail on time.

Four more days with kids and counting. I subjected them to videos today as I was getting all the stuff put away from our concert last week. We'll have some fun with some music games from now on.

Hope you're enjoying your Tuesday. Thanks for stopping by.

Crowned Queen

Wow - I'm sorry that the saying on this photo is blurry - it says
"Don't treat me any differently than you would a queen!"
I am SOOOOO not queen material! But I had fun making this card. I don't think I'll cut that crown out again though - the red one in the centre is popped up with dimensionals.

This card is for two challenges:
Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge - Sketch - with a spin to decorate the inside of the card too.
Corrosive Challenge - Black, White and a colour.
I've used the new Cherry Cobbler from SU.

Thanks for stopping by - I hope you have a Marvelous Monday - this is the last one of the school year (with kids) WoooooHooooo!!!!!

Load 'em Up!

For this Fabulous Friday the DT from Sugar Creek Hollow are loading up their cards with tons of stuff.....layers, embellishments, images. I've used one of the newer images - a butterfly tile and popped the daffodil up layers and the butterfly one. I've sponged the new specialty paper to bring out the embossing and used pearls and rhinestones on the same card.

Pop on over to the other DT member's blogs to see their fantabulous creations....

Ummmmm...

I have come to the conclusion that having my spring concert the same week as report card marks are due was probably NOT the best plan. My brain is swamped right now - and my stamp room is acquiring a thin layer of dust - but I will return.

Last of the VSN cards

Well, I'm glad I completed so many challenges a couple of weeks ago during the Virtual Stamp Night on Splitcoast - 'cause I have something to share for today.

I love this little lamb from Meljen's Designs - We had to create a card with a "critter" on it. The sketch that I used was a challenge of some sort during that period of time.

This clean and simple card uses only Versa Mark to create the watermark images on the coloured paper.

Finally, this floral card was to use items that we had to dig out from deep in the cupboard - "spring cleaning" - I hadn't used this floral background in a couple of years and I always liked it. I've also used an expired scrap of DSP.

The weather here is beautiful today - I'm heading to a Diva Lunch with my SU Team - After stamping some projects we'll be gathering outside to enjoy lunch and the sun.

Later I'm hoping to stamp some stuff with my new SU stamps. I've already re-organized all my paper, inks and markers for the colour renovation; cleaned out my stamp cupboard and tidied things up - a bit.

Hope you have a super Saturday - Thanks for dropping by - Joan

Would you Like to Fly......

....in my beautiful balloon? Way up in the sky in my beautiful balloon? " (Am I dating myself????)

On this Fabulous Friday the Sugar Creek Hollow DT is featuring Father's Day cards and this wonderful balloon is available in the Father's Day section of the shoppe. Also, don't forget to check out the Freebie for today - use the above link to hop over to the shoppe and link the the "Freebies" along the left sidebar.

I had fun paper piecing this balloon and decided to copy the stripes from the balloon into to body of the card.

Be sure to drop in on the DT members because there are some FABULOUS creations that have been made for you this week.

Thanks for dropping by - Hope your Friday is Fabulous and you have a great beginning to the weekend...Joan

Well Behaved Women...

A quick card from my Tuesday crafting.....
This card falls into the following challenges...

Mojo Monday - Sketch
Cards & Things Challenges - Colours - Pale Plum, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive.
Clean & Simple Challenge (Splitcoast) - Include quotes, verses or sayings.
Corrosive Challenge - Die Cuts

The Mojo Sketch included a square piece, but I didn't have any "square" quotes - so I duplicated the quote after stamping off ink.

For the centre of the flower I added microbeads on top of the punched circle.

I hope you're having a wonderful week so far - it's hump day - Woo Hoo!!
Thanks for stopping by - Joan

Finally.....

Wow - I've had to wait until after school to post this card because Blogger wasn't working for me last night or this morning......

So - This card covers a number of challenges...

Our Creative Corner - What Summer Means to You - I love sitting in a comfy chair on my deck - reading, enjoying the sun and watching butterflies or dragonflies as they visit the yard.
Colour Throw Down - Black, Pink Passion, Green Galore and Tempting Turquoise.
Daring Cardmakers - Pearls
Sweet Stop Sketch Challenge - Sketch

I hope you've enjoyed your Monday - It's been a bit rainy here - but not bad. Thanks for taking time to drop by!!!

Three CAS Words

Three little words - Three little challenges......

For today's card I used a small piece of the Preston Patterns Specialty paper from Stampin' Up! We used pieces of it at the Team Meeting I was at on Wednesday and since I hadn't opened my package yet, I decided it was about time!!! I spritzed it with black marker and then buffed up the glossy designs with a sponge dauber and black ink. I probably should have inked the words a bit darker.
I've used a piece of retired DSP and added a rub-on in the corner.

The challenges this card meets are:
Crafty Creations - Black and White and a splash of red
CAS-tastic Challenges - Focus on Sentiments
Lord Have Mercy! - Sketch

Have a wonderful Sunday - and tell someone you love them! Thanks for dropping by - Joan

Sugar Creek Hollow Blog Hop with Prizes

Happy Saturday - and welcome to the first stop of our

Sugar Creek Hollow Blog Hop.

The Sugar Creek Hollow Design Team has a been working hard creating cards using the sketch shown to share with you on their blogs today. ALSO.....we've been creating cards that are included in our basket full of goodies which will go to the winner of the blog hop.

The game today is to find a secret letter in each of the design team's blogs. Post the secret letter in all of the DT's comments section before you move on. Once you have collected all the letters and found the secret word, post the entire word on the SCH's website. If you followed the game correctly, you will have a chance to win a fantastic prize!! You must visit each of the Design Team member's blog.

One lucky winner will receive a basket filled with Tracy Vinson's Country Crinkle Ribbon ( which is absolutely beautiful!!!), Craft goodies and Cards created by our very own Design Team.

To begin the blog hop - You need to discover my secret letter; once you have told me what it is (by leaving a comment), you can go Stamping Down South to Marsha's blog to continue the hop.

June is the season of celebrating graduations and Fathers. Sugar Creek Hollow has a set of digital images for each of these occasions: You can click on these images to get linked directly to our shoppe -

I hope you have fun participating in our blog hop - and that you get to enjoy any special occasions that are occuring for you this weekend.

Baby Wipe Card

WoooHooo - it's Friday.

Here is yet another VSN card from last weekend - I used the baby wipe technique - I used it as a "stamp pad" for the flowers and then used the wipe as a "dauber" for the piece that has the sentiment.

Just a quick post - this month is off to a whirl wind start of busy-ness - I hope to slow down a bit for the weekend.

Blessings to you all - thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a fantastic Friday!!!!

Two forms of Precipitation....

Happy Thursday!!!!!!
I'm sort of in challenge withdrawl this week - I had a team meeting last night and didn't get home until late - I also have a sick daughter - who is asking for her Mom. So....two more cards from this past weekend.

This wintery card focuses on frozen water - a different form of the precipitation that falls in May. I used old DSP and the new Extreme Snowboarder stamp.

This umbrella card is based on "Singing in the
Rain". I told the hostess for the challenge that I
felt it was a bit unfair because I absolutely adore
Gene Kelly and could water him dance for hours.
So I got this card finished in 30 minutes and sat and watched some clips from Singing in the Rain on You-Tube.

That's it for today - I hope that your day is sun shiney and bright.....Thanks for dropping by!
Joan

Monkeys and Teddies

Here are two more cards from this weekends Virtual Stamp Night at Splitcoast.

Sock Monkey got to play in the rain and get covered in mud - the challenge was to use watercolours and to have lots of browns - for mud!

For the next card - I have had this Teddy coloured and in my "stash" drawer for a couple of years now - he was very happy to come out and finally get put onto a card that had to have a curtain on it - A shower curtain was the initial challenge - but
any curtain would do.

Tuesday was a busy day - so I'm hoping to get some blog challenges finished today.

Thanks for taking the time to drop by - hope your day is swell!!!!

It's Grad Season....

Today's first card is for the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenge........I've used one of the pieces from the Vintage Grad set from Sugar Creek Hollow (there is also a greeting from that set on the inside of the card) The set is shown below - and you should be able to click on it to go directly to the Shoppe.

The black and white colour motif fits into the challenge over at Our Creative Corner - black and white and lots of texture....I've used grosgrain ribbon, metal slides and black and silver rhinestones.

This second card is one of the challenges from Splitcoasts VSN this past weekend. The theme was Dreaming of May - moving from winter to spring. Each creation was suppose to have a change of colour, image and texture from left to right. I had fun making this.

We had some snow this weekend - Big fat huge stuff at times. Didn't last long though.

I hope you're spring season is holding fast and your able to enjoy any celebrations that it holds. Thanks for stopping by!
